not sure about the video, but the only thing ring nails are used for nowadays is drywall, did you mean ardox (twisted?), you can make any nail splinter proof by setting it point up on concrete and blunting the point a bit with a hammer.
Ring shank nails are required for roof sheathing in Florida

We use ring nails for roof decking, subflooring, underlayment and wall sheathing. Sometimes use stainless ring shanks for cedar decking.
We use screws for drywall.
