i plan on installing 1×12 azek boards for a garage door opening, appr. 16′ wide and 8′ high onto 2×10 treated lumber. my question is what type of fastener? i have heard guys using anything from ss siding nails to ss trim screws. i have plenty of 16g galv. nnails for my senco gun. do you predrill when using trimscrews. i worried about that 16′ long horizontal piece. i don’t have a siding nailer. thanks for any help

For a product that will out last the nails, AND going into treated, SS is the only thing I use.
I have found no need to predrill for SS trim screws, but I use the Torx head, and an impact driver.
In your situation I'd either hand bang some SS siding nails or use SS trim head screws... with the screws being the better of the two options. I would not use 16ga (or even 15ga) finish nails in that situation. Way too much movement between the PT and the Azek (and in opposite conditions to boot) to put much faith in that installation.
That length, you're gonna need an extra pair of hands, and as previously stated SS trim hd screws, White. To hold in place while doing the screws, I'd use SS 15 gauge finish nails. Fill the holes with white crayola crayon.
Cortex screws with the color matched plugs works great. The screw makes a perfect hole for the supplied PVC plugs.
