I have been putting new siding on my old house, I’m using hardiplank fibre cement siding. I’ve been using a framing nailer, as long as I use the right technique and correct air pressure. This nailer been ok but I ain’t as young and strong as I used to be and it’s heavy.
I’m wondering if anyone has used a roofing nailer on this siding. I have no experience with roofing nailers. Can they be setup for one nail at a time. Will they shoot a 2″ galvanized nail. Or does anyone have another method.

Roofing nailers work great for blind nailing F/C siding. Coil siding nailers work well too. They operate and fire the same way as your framing nailer. Run a search here on the topic of fiber cement siding and you'll find loads of great installation information.
Good luck.
Thanks to all for answering my questions on nailing hardiplank, most informative, appreciate the advice and info.
You all probably know this, but, I've been using the "labor saver" siding gauge. They work well especially since I work alone.

jamie.. we blind nail our fibercement with a roofing nailer..
the biggest nail we can get to fit our guns is 1 3/4.. and we use only hot dipped galv....we special order them thru DaJo Sales.. they get them from Maize
Jamie, I attended a hardie plank workshop and the manufacturers rep specifically stated that using roofing nails was suitable and they would honor the warranty. Surprisingly, he also stated that the nails did NOT have to hit studs. I was flabbergasted and asked him again in a very clear way. He said that roofing nails, into OSB satisfied their minimum nailing standards.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!
Warning! Be cautious when taking any framing advice from me. There are some in here who think I'm a hackmeister...they might be right! Of course, they might be wrong too!
I've used both and both are very suitable.
Sorry to bud in on the thread here but would you mind sharing what the approx cost and install of that siding is? I've been thinking of having it installed on my house. Have no idea what the overall cost is.

Jamie,I use a makita siding nailer with 2 1/4" ring shanked, hot dipped galvanized siding nails, a joint venture between hardi and hitachi manufactures them, I think.Toolsguy,Material cost is somewhere between vinyl and cedar. Installation is more than both of them. Depending on the job, I would estimate that putting up fibercement with say a 5" exposure the labor should run more than twice as much as vinyl. If you are putting up more pieces (smaller exposure) then it will be even more. But it will last a long time, won't burn and it doesn't look like crap every day after installing it for its usable lifetime, unlike the plastic plague.Other guys can help more specifically with the price since I haven't done a job for money with it in 3 years or so.
In regards to nailing hardiplank. Bostich supplies a nailer similar to a roofing nailer
