To nail 3/4″ exterior sheathing, the code says use 8d, but what would you use with a framing gun? To me if you use 2 1/2″ nails [8d] the nails would go too far into the 2×4, so it would be impossible to drill the centered 7/8″ holes for the electrical wiring. All comments welcomed.

Yer thinking too much. Just build it.
Sounds great...
Worse still some hurricane codes demand 10d. But don't worry as long as the sheathing is installed before the studs are drilled you will only hit a few nails. A 'nail-eater' auger bit will chew through the nails with very little damage. You can also use a 5/8" bit. This allows two runs of 12/2 NM with little trouble. Drilling goes a bit faster but pulling goes a bit slower.
Key to keeping the balance positive is to make sure you lay out, or feed from a reel or whirly-gig, the NM before pulling so that it comes out flat not with the twist that screams amateur or hack.
