I have been lurking on this great site for some time now and am going to try something new build a Shed! I am interested in finding a good book(s) on basic framing/carpentry. I plan on building a Shed (12×14). I have no experience and am a beginner. What books/videos would you recommend. I do have some wood working skills and tools, but that is about all. Also what other forums could I visit with the quality of information that is here.
Thank You for your help!

Richard check out what taunton has to offer. they have an excellent listing from the FHB home page it's toward the bottom and I think they refer to it as the library.
*Richard, the gubmint will send you one. You've already paid for it...
*For basic framing, I dont think you can do much better than Larry Haun's first book and videos. He basically walks you through laying out and framing a simple house. (havent seen his latest book so I cant comment on it) Bought my son-in-law a copy for Christmas but advised him not to cut framing lumber to length "like Larry". JonC
*For a professional book I recommend "rough framing carpentry" by Mark Currie. REALLY good for the serious beginner. However, it is oriented to home construction.Al
*I think Mike Guertin's framing book is finally out. I can't remember ever reading anything he wrote and calling "b.s.", even to myself.
*Richard - Check out 'How do I cut that bastard?' created by tomc5 ..... pack a lunch. Just kidding!
*and get your calculator warmed up...graph paper...pencils....Test tomorrow at 9am sharp!near the stream,aj
*Can't make it AJ - the area builder expo starts at noon and I've procrastinated long enough .... fax me a copy;)Hey, any Steelhead in that stream of yours? The run is on here.standing in the stream - WT
*Sorry for disrupting your post Richard.
*Thank You all for your information. Has anyone heard and what do you think of these two Authors: William Spence, John Wagner? and how do they rate with the other authors. Thanks
*Dude:Check out "graphic guide to frame construction" from Taunton Press (the FHB people). This is an AWESOME framing book and will guide you through your many projects. It's a bit more than most but shows everything in wonderful detail. I learned a ton from it. Then it got soaked in the rain (sob!).
