I am currently remodeling a bathroom which involves moving two sets of cold/hot water supply lines which are copper and come up through the slab. I am considering running Pex tubing through the ceiling instead of trying to move the original lines. Anybody have experience with Pex for remodel applications….also any sources for the fittings/tubing and specialized tools required. I’m in Northeast US. Thanks for the help.

Here's an on-line article to read about re-piping with PEX in Journal of Light Construction.
*My local hardware store has PEX fittings. I believe they also have the Flair-it http://www.flair-it-us.com/ style fittings that don't require the special compression tool (but I have no idea how good or bad they are). I have seen the PEX tubing at the local home center, so would expect they have the fitting and tools also, but haven't actually looked. There were a couple of discussion threads on Breaktime a year or more ago on PEX where people gave opinions on the various fittings/tool types, but I don't remember which brand got the top nod. Perhaps worth a search.

*Thaks for the info guys. I'm going to go with the Wirsbo Aquapex as the local dealer carries a good selection of tubing sizes and fittings. I'll let you know how things work out.
