Getting ready to run my Cat-5 and RG6 wire and I have a question about the proximity of my electrical wire. We hope to keep it at least 18 in. away from parallel runs of 12-2. I know I can cross it
If I come up from the bottom of a stud wall and there is a wire at 6″ and 24″ off of the floor, can I put my box for the Cat – 5 at 20 ” to the top and be okay with the 12-2 ?
Thanks
Rupert

Yes, it is fine.
In a residence you do not need to be that careful. Few household circuits can generate enough noise to bother the Cat5 cable.
(We have cat5 for phones and 100mb computer networks in our house. It is run parallel to and within 12" of 5 20 amp circuits for 30')
