My mom’s getting jerked around by a contractor in the ABE area. She signed a contract, put down a deposit (1250), and now doesn’t get calls returned (for more than a month). Just got worse–his # generates a phone co message “This number has been temporarily disconnected.” Call to phone co hints that that message only derives from non-payment.
Contractor came as a reference from a product manuf whose product I’ve used here in NC. Said the guy was in the business many years. That guy didn’t know the contractor’s phone was disconnected, and says he’d be out a whole lot more than my mom if the worst is true.
Mom lives 1 1/2 hr from his listed address, and at 76, it’s not the easiest thing for her. Neither is losing the money. I’m in NC, about 10 hrs away. Looking for someone who can drive by the business address and see if there’s any activity. OK, you can rough him up, but just for your own fun.
I’ll email the name/address to anyone in the vicinity, but don’t wanna out him here unless I run out of alternatives. Will call city tomorrow and BBB. Other suggestions? Never had to go after someone before…try to avoid confrontation whenever possible…but it’s MY MOM, so I gotta find a way to mess him up.
Thanks,
Jim

I thought this was gonna have something to do with disposing of a body........not creating one. Joe H
*Not this time. :) A lot of that other stuff was kinda tongue in cheek venting, because there was no changing that guy. This is many states away, and I'm feeling bummed and angry be/c I was in the middle of the recommendation. I have a kind offer of assistance from someone I thought might get in touch. I'm glad the person lives on the same city as the probably-defunct-contractor, so a drive-by, look-see should be pretty easy. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
