Good day all. I have a customer that wants a fancy pants railing in her cottage. Shes from Scottland & would like the newl post to have carved thithles on then.. I was kind of hoping I could find some that I could attach to a plain 4×4 oak newl post & do some fancy stuff with the router. She doesnt want the standard turned newls. YOu know.. with the ball on top.
If anyone could help me Id put them on my Christmas list.
THanks
Ted

Dear Santa, I'll get back to you at the appropriate time with my Christmas wish list.
*Ted, A long time ago, I had a book, I think from Dover Press, I think called something like Whittling, Woodcarving and something else. Anyway, it was, to me, an introduction to the new frontier or level of woodcarving. In any event, get a little practice and go beyond that ordinary explored territory and give the lady what she wants. I got disgusted with Popular Mechanics magazine. In the early 50's, they assumed everyone had an engine lathe. But about 1980 they suggested that you could spruce up your cabinet doors with some plastics glue-on carvings. The basic tools you need are a chisel and a knife.
