Does anyone know the formula for calculating hip and valley rafters? I’m building my kid a playhouse, and I just can’t seem to get them to fit. The playhouse is an L shape on an 8×8 platform, and I’m running an 7/12 pitch. I got the common rafters to fit perfectly ( no small feat for me, rafters and I just don’t mix) but my hip rafter rejects are starting to pile up. Any quick help you could give me would be greatly appreciated, as I’m at my boiling point with these things. Thank you.

at 7/12 the hip length is 18.36 inches for every foot of run. To find run, you can lay it out on the floor. To make the seat cut and head cut set framing square at 7/17 but drop the hip rafter by about 3/4"by taking a deeper cut.
Excellence is its own reward!
Also...............single side cut or double side cut on hip rafter?
Ridge board?.......Thickness?
How much overhang?
Do you want to drop the hip rafter or back it to make it line up with the commons?
Knowledge is power, but only if applied in a timely fashion.
What are the exact dimensions of the playhouse?
What is the thickness of the ridge and top plates of the walls?
