need ideas to level shop cabinet basses with sloping floor
I plan on installing several cabinets in my basement shop. The floor slopes almost 3” over the 12’ run. I am going to use 24” unfinished oak basses from Lowes http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=288966-59890-B24L.BDR.UF&lpage=none I cant figure out how to deal with the slope. 3” seems like too much to shim. Should I use leg levelers or try to rip some material and build a level platform for the bases to sit on? Any other ideas?

If you could find 24'' deep
If you could find 24'' deep wall cabs that would fill the bill, build your toe kick to the slope on the floor (leveled top) and then set those cabs on that.
With base cabs you can certainly do the same. Cover the goofy looking tapered and coupled toe kick with a custom cut kick cover. You could cut off some of the cabinet toe kicks if you don't want the height of the counter in the 39 inch range.
Install a 1x or 2x, level on the wall, set the cabinets on that and shim or block the front to the floor
I normally use long tapered shims front and back, perhaps another shim in the middle if the boxes are crappy. Making a "ladder" of the shims where they get thicker than 1-1/2" is a good idea. Regular kd framing lumber with a strip of ice and water sheild or other moisture barrier is what I'd use.
Here is an outside the box idea... That is what you are looking for - ideas - right?
Build a platform consisting of ripped PT lumber for sleepers and 3/4" floor sheathing to cover the entire work area. The framed floor will be much more comfortable to stand on for long periods of time. See how we can make a little problem into a big project? :-)
