You can buy Skil worm drive oil in a tube at your tool place or even at Home Depot.

I have a tube of Skil worm drive oil for my Skil worm drive.
I bought the tube of oil at least ten years ago.
I still haven't changed the oil.
I bought it at a local tool supply house. Shouldn't be hard for you to find locally or on line.

Yeah its that decade of not thinking
about it I feel bad about. thanks for the feed back.
True.At least I thought about it at least twice a year since I got it.John Svenson, builder, remodeler, NE Ohio
that worm in there must be thirsty by now
Welcome to the Taunton University of Knowledge FHB Campus at Breaktime. where ... Excellence is its own reward!
The funny thing is I bought that saw used in 1982!And believe me it was kind of old when I got it.I'm kind of afraid to change it now, it might be too much of a shock to the system.John Svenson, builder, remodeler, NE Ohio
I'm ashamed to admit it but I've
never changed the oil in my worm drive.

Our Habbie chapter has a bunch of Skill 77s and I believe the oil is original. I did not change any in 2000 and I don't think anyone has since.
I understand you dump the oil, fill with kerosene and run for a minute to loosen up the crud, dump the kero and fill with new oil.
I must try this sometime. I did, once, but the saw got stolen.

You're supposed to change the oil in those?
what sort of person are you???? Back to a sidewinder for you, A cheap plastic Black and decker would suit your heartless soul Ok go to the lumberyard they sell toothpaste like containers of worm drive earl , Change the earl and 4 hail Marys and you are forgiven my son.
And I still haven't changed the oil in my "new" lawnmower that I bought 8 years ago. I guess I better get around to it before something wears out prematurely.
I stopped changing the oil in my old riding lawnmower over 20 years ago. I just know something's gonna give out soon.
I don't know what to use in a worm drive, but maybe I should drain some out of my lawnmowers and send it your way :-)
You have to change the oil??!?!? I guess mine get stolen before they start making any clanking noises.

I bought one at a pawn shop that had low oil. I can't remember where I got oil for it, but it's the only time I ever filled one. I used to look guiltily at the "check oil daily" written on the filler cap but never quite get the gumption to open it. Now it's been so long since I checked that I can't imagine it makes a difference.
Well that's just it.
She don't sound quite right.
Winter must be getting long if I'm
actually thinking about such things.
Be sure to carry a camera phone ... to get the look on the clerks' face when you ask for 'worm oil.'
OK , so has anyone here besides me actually had a worm gear saw blow it's guts out? Mine was a Milwaukee, crew used it to rip six 4x12 beams down . I gave it to one of the guys on the crew who had it rebuilt for $75.00
They can't get your Goat if you don't tell them where it is hidden.
My yard sale worm gear saw was real old when I got it for $5.00. The local builder's equipment man looked shocked when I wanted to buy the proper oil. He actually offered to fill it for free at the store. The saw works like new so why bother?
