I had a great day at the International Builder’s Show in Orlando. Besides looking at the new building products, I spent a lot of time in the tool booths.
For those of you contemplating a new portable table saw, see if you can delay your purchase. Bosch has refined their 10″ saw that will be available in June or July.
Some of the features:
1. Magnesium table top to cut down on the weight.
2. Removalble Digital scale that can be zeroed out to any blade you have. You can set the scale to 1/8s, 1/16ths or 1/32’s.
3. Table rips to 12 1/2″ and then extends to rip to 24 1/2″. There is a plastic stop that extends above the table until you lock the sliding table extension in place so you don’t start ripping on a fence thats not locked in. When you extend the table, the digital scale tracks with it.
4. Built in riving knife that adjusts to go over the top of the blade or completely hidden, tool free.
5. Blade guard that allows the fence to go right up to the blade. The blade guard also adjust smoothly when the blade is tilted.
6. removable anti-kickback pawls
7. Arbor lock to change blades with only 1 wrench.
8. Beefed up base on the corners of the base that won’t chatter as you slide it into your truck.
9. Soft startup that eventually pulls 15 amps.
10. Optional cart which many of you have already raved bout.
The improvements they made should make it worth your while to delay your purchase if you’re in the market. I saw a lot of new tools, but this was the one that I was most impressed with.
If you haven’t made it to this 4 day show, it’s really a jam packed show that gives you an opportunity to get hands on with a lot of the products you read about in the trade magazines.

I alreadyhave the old one.
number 4 and number 8 on your list grab my attention the most
number 7, is one thing I totally love about the old saw, every saw on the planet should made with an arbour lock.
If you have the older style Bosch you can make a riving knife out of the blade guard. I dont have a picture of it but someone posted it on here at one time and I think Katz coppied someones idea and posted it on his site.
I have the older style as well and I like the improvments mentioned but its hard to justify the expense of a new tool when the old one works perfectly fine.

Hopefully, the "old style" will be priced to sell to make room for the new one.
yeah I've seen that too...I think Gary Katz had it on his Bosch and talked about it back in Nov at the Seattle JLC show.
There was a group of Menonite carpenters that I worked with about 5 years ago that showed me how to do it(the riving knife).
I just cant justify dumping the old that works fine to go to the new and improved.
Doug
I'll be keeping mine as well.

Yea, I thought that might garner a little responce but its not my goal to see how many tools I can acumulate before I die!
Besides, theres other things that I dont have a single of so buying yet another table saw when I have three somehow makes no sense to me.
Doug
What? No frankfurter blade stop???
