New Shower Diverter sticks out too much
I have installed new shower diverter according to directions. the plumbing sticks out into the area for backerboard. I can cut out around diverter but pipe to shower head is not within framing. Am I wrong, I think plumbing should be inside wall? Anybody have suggestion?

I just installed a MOEN and basically ignored the instructions regarding the depth... they are awful.
Used eyeball and level to set it just with the backer surface.

Thanks, I will ignore... already feel relief!
There is a reason why men don't read instructions. :)
Shower diverters come with instructions?

I just put ina Price Phister and thier directions were throng.Had marks on protective sleeves for a good area to have proud of tile but when i tired to put on flanges and threaded cups i was short by about 1/4" . Guess ill have to silcone the flanges on there which will be better than the dorkey lil plastic gasket to keep water from seeping in behind the wall.
Thats the last time i try to read the Malaysian instructions.
Many instructions seem to assume a 2x6 wet wall depth. Accordingly, in a 2x4 wall things don't line up or in some cases even fit.
I agree with the recommendation to just ignore the instructions and place it where it needs to be once adjusting for tile, backer, and finished fixture depths.
This is why I always get the fixtures in hand prior to the framing. You just can't beat holding the thing up there and seeing how it will work.
