Has anyone tried the new style bowl to floor seals made by Fluidmaster (I think its Fluidmaster?) Saw them at the store the other day and heard they are superior to the ole’ wax ring but they are also $7. and the wax ring is .99 cents.
Anyone used one yet?

Hard of hearing lately
*Piffin, Well, I guess you could sit on that little 4" o-ring but it might not be very comfortable... ;)Mike
* have used them, go on easy and no mess. they are great for if you have to install and pull a toilet several times ( like when you are doing a bathroom in a one bath home. one nice thing is they make a combo kit (3" & 4"). 7$ seems kind of steep, i think i paid around $4 or $5 for mine.
*James, Thanks for the report. I think I'll give them a shot on my next job.Mike
*What type of seal are these?I have been using a neoprene reinforced seal for years, and wouldn't change for anything. I have never had a leak of any kind with these seals. What kind of "new" type of seal are you talking about?James DuHamel
*Foam rubber.
*Those things have been around for 20 years. I worked on some rental houses in the early eighties where we had a 425lb woman who smashed the seal out everytime she used the comode. We used a foam seal and no more problems. DanT
*ROFLOLI was joking !! I expected foam rubber to seal about as well as a sponge. There really is a foam rubber seal ?
*the "new" seal is a plastic sleeve with two rubber o rings on it, one to seal to the pipe ( or maybe two to the pipe) one to the toilet. much easier to just look at one, very self explaintary.http://www.fluidmaster.com/
*Luka, yep those foam seal have been aruond a long time, but were used mostly in commercial applications. Almost all wall hung urinals and toilets used them or some variant of them.
*Am looking at them. Not sure quite what to think but they should be good. Have used a similar one with great success. Saw them at the "H" place. (The orange place)James from TX.... yep yep! You always amaze me with your knowledge of plumbing, etc. It is rare to see a remodeler, etc. as knowledgeable as you are. Just wanted you to know that.
