I am replacing my 56 year old windows with either a new window or sash replacements from marvin. What are the pros and cons of either option. Iam doing the install myself and I like the idea of a new window, trim and maintenance free brick mold, but I also realize the convenience in replacing the sash only. Has anyone gone through this before?

It mainly depends on whether the old jambs are sound and properly flashed. If they are, you might even consider reconditioning your original sash. But if there's water leaking around the outside of the jambs, there's no alternative to replacing the whole shebang.
