Newly Installed Humidifier problem?
I installed a new Honeywell Power Flow-Through Model HE360A whole house humidifier over the weekend on the furnace plenum, and it seems to be functioning properly; BUT the humidity in the home is still approximately 28%, which is the SAME as it was before installing a humdifier. It cycles on and off when the furnace blower kicks on and off. I can visually inspect the water flowing, and the fan on the humidifier spinning also. I purposely have the humidstat set to 40% so that it does not shut-off prematurely.
It is a home from 1910, with blown insulation in the wall cavities, etc. New vinyl replacement windows as well.
Any ideas? Am I missing something? Thanks for the help!

My first guess would be that the humidistat is miscalibrated. Try turning it up to 60% or so and see if that makes a difference.
Another possibility is that it has been so dry for so long that the wood, sheetrock, clothing, etc. in the house are absorbing the moisture as fast as the humidifier can pump it out, and you just need to wait for it to reach equilibrium.
