I think it's more of a trucking shortage than anything.
During the summer, truckers switch to hauling produce - It pays better. We often have trouble getting enough lumber this time of year.
I doubt it has much of anything to do with the hurricane.
Yea - one of my building supplies is telling me that sheetrock "is on allocation". Funny though since another building supply has all I need... I doubt that the hurricane could be effecting sheetrock supplies this fast though... if that is what you were insinuating...
I went thru that in '98..hadda have a builders ID to buy drywall, that was in WNC.
I can't fathom this here, and like you said, too soon for relief efforts.
Boss Hog likely nailed it, the truckers are swamped with grain that can't pass the Missippi ports. Add the cost of diesel, and the hinterlands like us, are gonna pay.
I am aware that we in KY are not in a direct line of fire, but our building boom, is booming big time.
I see problems. Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks
I believe that some mills are in that general area also.Don't know if any of them where close enough to coast to be affected either directly or indirectly (problem with supply and help).
Yea - I remember the DW shortage in 98. I'm thinking it went up to around $15 a board (4x12), plus you had to be "special" to get it in quantity.
