A friend has a masonry chimney with two flues, one for a fireplace, the other for the oil-fired boiler.
He’s bothered by hearing the roar of the oil burner getting carried down the fireplace flue. There is a 50+ year old cast-iron damper in the FP, it doesn’t seem to make much difference.
I thought of a chimney-top damper, any one with any experience with this problem?
Thanks, Steve

A Ukranian mother-in-law never dies, she just becomes a wailing noise coming out of thechimney.
Let's not confuse the issue with facts!
