I'm assuming this is not your average everyday water hammer?
no its not, just a tap tap or thump thump rite in or near the valve . i have not taken the valve apart yet this toto valve has hot and cold stops rite at the valve also a spool type balance deal in the valve the homeower purchaced all the stuff but still blames us ( me and plumber) a royal pain ps they still hold all the cards (2500.00) thanks coop.
what is your water pressure?
If it is the tap tap tap noise that almost sounds like a loud drip, i know what is the problem is
It is the hot water line expanding as it heats and cool. This is cause by clamping the copper directly to the wood. Those copper red rubber tipped clamps are the culprit.
Some Plumbers will first wrap the pipe in something soft (like rubbatex) carpet padding then clamp it. A bored hole that is too small will prevent something soft to be stuffed on the tight side.
Also, clamping copper directly to drywall studs will turn the whole ceiling or wall to a soundboard. A lot of Plumbers don't practice the art of quieting their pipes.
agreed...No Coffee No Workee!
thanks for for the help but thats not it . i have one of those inspection snake cammeras (really kool looking down your mouth) i can see pipies and platic pipe clamps etc. it really seems to by in valve (the big ? is i didnt buy the stuff so how much time should i give for free to fix) i guess since they owe me i'll have to keep at it the plumber will not stuck between that boulder and a hard spot thanks
