Can anyone tell me how long o.s.b. sheating can be left unprotected from the weather. I am interested in purchasing a partially complete wood frame house, the roof is framed and watertight but the outside walls are only exposed 7/16″ os.b. sheating, with no siding installed as of yet. The house has sat untouched for a little over 13 months, before I finalize the offer I would like know if anyone knows REALLY how long o.s.b. can hold up to the weather( The house is in Eastern Ontario, were we get LOTS of snow)
I have asked my reg. supplier who has checked with his supplier(nor board) I do not seem to be able to get a straight answer. The rep, suggests I remove all the sheating and install 7/16″ sheating. The house is two floors and framed, doesn’t sound good to me Thanks I’d appreciate any help.
