Question on wood floor filler with water base poly.
When refinishing oak floors in the past with oil or oil base polyurethane, I have used a filler formula passed on from an old-dog floor finisher with about 60 years of experience. It was four parts boiled linseed oil, 2 parts spar varnish, and clean sanding dust to make a paste consistency. Spread it on, let it set overnight, and make the final pass with the sander. It did a great job of filling wide joints and evening out the imperfections and acquired character marks in an old floor.
Now I am about to finish/refinish again, including a kitchen floor that is less than perfect 65 year old original oak that has never had a finish. For a number of reasons, I have decided to go with water base poly. Does anyone have experience with a filler under water base poly? Will the filler that I have used in the past work under water base?
Would appreciate any words of wisdom.
Thanks,
