Just got home from the best two days I’ve had in a while. Took a couple guys on my crew to a JLC Live show in Columbus. It was a free show like a home show but for contractors. I guess they’ve been around for a while but I only learned about them from a local radio ad.
What was so great was watching demonstratons by some of the guys who write articles in Fine Homebuilding. Rick Arnold did an informative I joist talk. Mike Gertin explained how to shingle from the top of a roof down – makes lots of sense once you see it done. Myron Ferguson (they call him That Drywall Guy) made beading and taping look easy. There was way too much to see.
If anyone ever gets the chance to go to one of these shows I highly recommend it. Lots of tool companies with better prices that I can buy at Home Depo or other tool stores. Even cheaper than internet stores I’ve looked into. We took home a few goodies. The rest of the crew will be disappointed they didn’t come along.

Glad you liked the show. Bring the rest of your guys next year when we'll do it again. And be sure to stop and introduce yourself.

PS let me know what you think if Top Down Roofing when you have a chance to put it to use.
