In twenty plus yrs. of using a “wonder bar” or vaughn flat bar..
I have yet to find a way to carry one on a tool belt..falls through the hammer loop, even with a hammer in there too..I use a metal hoop , not the ones on the side of my pouch..
won’t stay put in a pouch..they aint deep enough..
had tried my back pocket..scraped my back up too much..
WHO has found a way to have one handy and not just out of reach all the time? Can ya tell I’m on a roof?
Thanx
Duane

I remember reading a tip in a magazine (FH?) where a guy bent some AL coil stock in a crescent shape to fit in his hammer holder. There was just enough space to slide the flat end in and the other end (right angle) got snagged.
I don't know if this works, I've always meant to try it but never got around to it. Hopefully someone has found the perfect solution.

I drop mine in my bags first, bent end down in the bag -- then by the time chalk line, and other crap is in, the bar stays put -- but I can't just pull it out quickly that way, have to rearrange slightly to get it in/out. I usually don't carry one all day, just depending on the task for the hour.
Some of the newer bags have a sleeve on them that you can put a flat bar in. I think their main intention was for cat's paws and the like, but depending on the bag, you should be able to get a flat bar in there. I usually stick my bar in the big loop on my bags that my belt goes through ( I use two separate bags and a belt). This works pretty good. If your feeling really industrious, you could sew a sleeve for your flat bar onto your bags (take a look at the diamondback tool belt web page for an idea, I think some of their bags have them.......sorry dont know web page address off hand).

I cut the bottom of the knife holder thats attached to my belt out and slip it in there.
Its never fallen out.

my bags are "nailers" the ones with the removeable little pockets..older than dirt..mebbe I'll start slicen them up..
cant sew nothin to em, too tough..
I have big azz safty pin that holds one of them to the padded belt, and it was a chore to pierce the bag loop to pin it in place
maybe I could PL glue a BIG AZZ Magnet on somewhere..prolly hang my self offa pump jack tho'..
don't want new bags, it took 15 yrs to break these in.

My pouches have a small snap closing pocket at the top of the left bag. This bag is only riveted on at the sides and leaves a space behind the pocket and between the rivets that is perfect for holding my wonerbar. The bar slides right through to the main pouch.
I got my tool belt at Lowes about 2-3 years ago. It is CLC I think (was only $60)
good luck

Wow a custom BEER POUCH too!
try sliding it between your belt and bag loops, works for me when I find a need to have it handy.
LOL, That beer holder won't work..........................It'll be so shaken up that when you open it your bags will fill up with warm beer...............
The sheathe is a pretty good Idea though.
My catspaw fits in a leather loop on the left side of my Oxy Lites...........
Stabs me in the calf every time I kneal down................."Rather be a hammer than a nail"

That second pic some kind of homo porn shot or something? Kind of the gay version of Bosses helper picture?
Edited to add: Not that's there's anything wrong with that.

I remember a tool tip in one issue that talked about shaping a rare earth magnet with a channel to keep a flatbar in a specific orientation and then attaching the magnet to either the belt or on a pocket, wherever you wanted it to hang. The channel added to the magnets ability to hold the tool, keep it from being slid off, and from being moved around to jab the guy in the butt as he crouched, which was why he went after a fix to begin with.
I don't know what your bag set up is, but mine has a tape holder on the left side, the flat bar slides nicely in back of the tape pouch holding it against the belt. I can get ya pic if this isn't clear.
It works great, just watch it in the house rounding corners and such, as a flat bar will lay a world of hurt on on a wall, door jamb, or even the clients prize piece of furniture if you're particularly un-lucky and clumsy
That's just what I was thinking.
Only I was thinking of my old bags that had a metal clip. Sort of like a piece of metal channel, rivetted to the belt. The clip on the tape measure woulf slip in behind the metal.
A wonderbar would have just fit in behind there.
If you do nothing, nothing will happen.
I am way to used to having my tape in the center pouch..if not wearing a belt tho' it's on my right side pants pocket..
I have thought about interior damage factor..lol. But for now on the roof from hell is what I was thinking about..
the machete sheath just might be the ticket..more weight ughh
I have one of those tape holders like ya mentioned..couldn't fit a few tapes in it so I went with the pouch..

Wait a minute!! where do you carry your machete then ?
When I need to carry my flatbar I stick it horizontally into the belt loop of my tool belt. My flat bar has a mild curve so it's not too uncomfortable, and it doesn't dropout. Just a thought.
Let's not confuse the issue with facts!
I was gonna post the exact same suggestion! Works great! especially climbing on ladders, it's nice and secure.Pete Duffy, Handyman
Spin your belt around so the pouches are hanging on yer a$$, it's a lot easier when you're always climbing up or down or kneeling. Keeps the pouches from raising up when you lift your leg; that's what I find dumps things out of 'em....
