I just bought a 90 year old house and sadly think I need to replace the old double hung windows. I want to restore them, but the windows are too far gone. Im looking for a good source/manufacturer of the “sash kit” windows — remove stops and guides from the inside and slip in vinyl frame then windows. I want vinyl clad on outside and wood on inside, and not spend a fortune. Ive got 31 windows to replace. Any thoughts?
Also this house is all masonry — two layers. We torn out the old flu vent chimney before it fell on us and to create some space in the tiny kitchen. We plan on using the gap it left in the walls as a chase for plumbing and electric — we are creating a master suite on the third floor and need to run elec and plumbing but have to provide R-11 insulation because of the plumbing. I can only spare about an 1.5″ in this narrow space. Ideas??
Thanks
Pete
