I just met a contractor who is a neighbor. He lives the next street up and over 1 block from me. his house is like mine. Its a 1950 Ranch stucco home. I have been basically restoreing mine to keep the 1950s sort of look. I figure its a old house so keep it old looking but up graded. for example im putting in colonist 6 panel interior doors w/stained base and caseing, and refinished the original wood floors but I kept the stains and imperfections of the floor cuz to me that is the character of the house.
I went into his house and its all up graded and looks like a brand new home , knock down finish wall and ceiling all modern looking light fixtures
everything looking like a newly constructed home. But the outside still
looks like a 1950 ranch. In talking to my other bud whose a remodeling contractor he says that today (at least here in orange county) there is no where left to biuld new home so people are buying the old homes keeping the old outside facade and completely updating the inside. I dunno i like my old house looking old.
