I’ve heard very good things on open cell foam insulation i.e., reduced energy bills by 50%, less dust in the home, sound barrier, etc. The cost is 2.5 times more but the results seem great and $$ pay back would be in three years. I am seriously considering this insulating foam material “Isonene” for my new home. Anyone currently using this method of insulation??

Lots of info on this board - try searching on "icynene".
*Open cell foam is like the air filter on your lawn mower . You want a closed cell foam . The cells are closed to trap the air ,making many little dead air spaces. I have Icynene in my roof and gable ends . It has worked quite well.
*Don, Icynene claims that their product IS an open cell foam, but that the air flows thru it very slowly so that it can breathe away some moisture, and will avoid 'sealed in a plastic bag' moisture problems that a closed cell foam could cause.that's what they told me when I asked.
*Kerr , the guy that just did mine told me it was a closed cell. So now what the heck do we do ?
