Have 18′ x 12′ area over master bedroom that I’d like to use as open porch above. Floor system is 2×12 #2yp at 12″ o.c. with 3/4″ treated plywood. Would like to install membrane and slope away with mudbase much like a shower pan, and finish with suitable tile. This avoids the drain that is possible clog problem with leaves etc. Would appreciate thoughts and potential drawbacks. Thanks

Dont know how well the tile would work, maybe someone on here has more experience with exteror tile work than I. My first reaction to that particular application is that it would cost a sh!tload of money.
There is a product called Deck King (i think that is right, google wasnt any help) the last job we used it on has been almost a year ago,we got it through ABC Supply. Used it pretty regularly for about three years before that. Awesome product. Comes in three foot wide rolls, goes on much like linoleum, glue down, heat gun and roll the seams with a hundred pound roller, and edges with vinyl coated drip edge that you heat weld to. The surface finish is kinda like a pebbly linoleum comes in several differnt colors. It is a one step roof and finish deck pretty much. I cant remember the exact material though, mod bitumen???? no idea. But we havent had a lick of trouble with it and weve had some pretty crappy weather the last few years.
