Has anyone had any experience with this product. Is it worth the extra price to insulate fron the sun. Hardie panel is being used to wrap the house. This is a house that is being built near Dallas.

What product? Are you talking about a coating on the OSB? I don't think I understand. What sun is going to penetrate the Hardie panel? I know you're closer to the equator than I am, but I don't think the sun penetrates any better. Is there a link you could give us to learn more about this stuff?
*Sorry, I did'nt make myself clear. OSB comes with a Energy Q reflective barrier and is called tech OSB. I wanted to use it to keep out the heat of the summer sun. I am sure that Hardie planks absorb heat. The tech OSB will deflect the heat.Ivan
*Sounds like advertising BS.........wouldn't you need an air gap to reflect heat? Joe H
*I'm looking for timbers, 6x6, 6x10, to build exposed trusses. They can be new or used. Does anyone know of sources in the mid west?
*Partially BS and partially not. THe advertisers would like you to think that it is a perfect idea. It's not, but it's not bogus either. The "Not" part would refer to radiant heat. Aluminum can act as a mirror for that heat as well as it does light (aluminum makes a real good mirror when polished). The "BS" part would refer to heat from a warm surface. THAT needs the air gap. That is why you do not have your exterior walls directly in contact with the interior walls. All that fiberglass (or cellulose or ....) serves to prevent air circulation. That air movement is very efficient at transmitting heat around.
