I am a carpenter/foreman on a commercial job site in Juneau, AK. We had an injury (fall) last week. First one I’ve had on my jobsite in 20 years. I think OSHA will be coming to inspect the jobsite soon. I can call for a “courtesy inspection” first, but would like to hear from anyone out there in the business….that has weathered an OSHA inspection.
Is there any publication “Interpretation of OSHA requirements for construction jobsites”? I need something that is readable and workable.
We are now rolling floor trusses at 10′ up, above a concrete slab. We wear hardhats, go up on ladders, and have full nailbelts on. These are 40′ x 11 7/8 TJI’s.
Are we supposed to have a rail? If so, how do we put up and roll the TJI’s? Are we supposed to have harnesses on? If so, how long are the tethers?
What about fuel containers on the job? What about a spring return on the radial arm saw? The 110 and 220 extension cords? The air hoses and nailguns?
Thank you for your time,
Mike

Mike, fill out your written jobsite safety plan and all those questions will be answered...by you!
Ask your insurance carrier if they have accident prevention teams. If they do, they might come out and offer suggestions.

Warning! Be cautious when taking any advice from me. Although I have a lifetime of framing experience, some of it is viewed as boogerin and not consistent with views of those who prefer to overbuild everything...including their own egos
Additionally, don't take any political advice from me. I'm just a parrot for the Republican talking points. I get all my news from Rush Limbaugh and Fox and Friends (they are funny...try them out)!
