I’m buying a house that has a very large covered RV carport at the back of the property. I want to enclose it and turn it into a dojo (training hall for karate). I want to add a bath with shower and there is water and power at the site, but the problem is the waste water. The house has a septic system, but it is on the other side of the house. Any ideas? |

You could put in a small septic tank for it, depending on how close your well is, or figure out a way to tie into your existing septic line.
Thanks Dave. I was thinking that the small septic was the way to go.
Simplest thing to do is ask your local heath dept or code enforcement authority.
You may need to add another septic tank and lateral field. You may able to pump to your existing tank/field if it is large enough to handle the increase. You may need to do any number of other thing that they will specify.
That is why they are there. To keep you, your family, your neighbors and, your community safe from ad hoc solution to waste disposal.
If you were my neighbor, I would strongly advise you to get the authorities involved. Might cost you a little more in up front fees and permits, but then we would both know I won't have to be concerned about your $h!t.

Thanks Dave. I appreciate your input. I'm a by the book kind of guy anyway, but I thought that I would throw it out for alternates.
Thanks again.
Install a sewer ejector pump and a tight line to the current septic tank.
if its a business it will have to be done by the book, permit, new septic system etc. By code
Brownbagg,
Thanks for your input. THis is a house and I will go by the book either way.
David,
I'd tie it into the existing system, but we are talking a 400' run around the house.
Thanks for your help though.
