So I want to put a prefab firebox into this outdoor fireplace mentioned in the other post. (Cold, Frozen Michigan.)
I found the Lennox MP-36OD via google. Sounds nice, but are there others out there I should consider?

bump, only because I want one too
HEATILATER makes a stainless steel unit (Out42) for outdoor use.I priced one out for a job last year,if I remember correctly it was about $2500 Installed but this depends on how much pipe you would need and where you are located. Try heatilator.com
I believe Heat and Glow makes some for outdoors also.
heatnglo.com
why not just put in some gas logs?
So the rest of the story:
I got the Lennox prefab unit sitting here in the stepson's garage. Nice piece of equipment.
After farting around with several foundation contractors, the third one was able to place a regular poured foundation system like I wanted. Recall, this is an outdoor underdeck enclosure. The poured wall will be veneered. The fireplace will be installed into the wall under the deck, facing a lowered patio (basement level).
My mason has been helping me get things put together. So to make everything come together as well as providing proper supports for what goes above, the veneer at the firplace location is actually 12" deep (not height, but deep.) The fireplace will sit proud of the poured wall, extending out towards the patio. In fact, the back of the fireplace (it's 20" deep) will be flush with the inside of the poured wall.
The fireplace comes with very detailed instructions for a wooden framed installation. Curiously, nothing is mentioned about a masonary installation.
The problem comes about with the flue from the unit. We're all familar with double walled B vents. This unit has it's own type of vent - seems like a variation of the B vent (8" inside flue, with a 1/2" gap between the second layer, making a total of 9"), but then has another enclosure another 2" away, making a total width of 13". The inside double walled flue's connections look different than ordinary B vents. I should mention that this is what is coming out of the unit.
My installation will only allow the inside double walled pipe. If I have to use the triple walled system, it simply will not fit. With the installation being completely within at least a 6" masonary enclosure, as well as 10.5 feet away from the structure and no wood anywhere within 3 feet (and those are the deck joists on the other side of the poured wall), I'm at a loss to understand why this triple walled pipe is necessary.
So I contact Lennox's customer service. I get his email back from Jennifer saying:
Thank you for contacting Lennox Hearth Products. Our fireplaces can
only be installed with the flue pipe listed for use with the fireplace.
You cannot use b-vent pipe on this unit. Please contact us again if
you have additional questions
Thank you,

Real helpful. Notice no phone number is given. Any discussion becomes a function of the clarity of the written email communication, therefore one's interpretation of what she reads (not sees) becomes law.
There's a real possibility of me misunderstanding what their flue pipe actually is because the drawing within the manual shows a double walled pipe, not triple, yet the distance between the walls as drawn certainly looks to be 2".
I had to pull a mechanical permit for this. The BI is going to use the manufacturers installation instructions for guidance.
Anyone every had experience with these type of flues? Think I could run a clay flue up my wall and simply feed the clay with their flue?
