I’m full on daily on a large building project for the first time in years. I’m primarily using a Paslode fraiming nailer .. which I absolutely love, btw … but often need to ‘flush’ the shot nails and am also nailing now and then where the Paslode won’t fit or whatever. ALREADY my right arm is beginning to give me trouble … feels like muscle and bone ‘trauma’ from hammering.
A friend from across the country tells me that the ‘shape’ of a hammer handle can save the elbow. Also, in the pages of FH I’ve seen ads for hammers which (supposedly) ‘absorb’ the impact. I definitely need to change something or I’ll end up having to spend time waiting for my arm to recover. Like to take measures BEFORE that becomes a reality.
Does anyone here swear by this or that hammer for preventing arm problems? Is it true that there are hammers which actually make a substantial difference .. or is that corporate hype?
Thanks!
Terry

I use the Stanley 22 oz antivibe with the curved handle and find that it's not bad, better than the old straight handles. I wish however that I had gone the extra $$ and bought Stilletto titanium that has the build of a California framer but is only 14 oz. A framer friend of mine who was suffering from exactly what you're talking about , the hammer elbow, bought the Stiletto and swears that it saved his arm.
