Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

Scherrs will make you the cabs you need. Go to http://www.scherrs.com
But you'll have to put them together, because Scherr's sells RTA (ready to assemble) cabs.
All frameless. No face frames.
If you've gotta have faceframed, Conestoga Wood Products will make you what you want. But again, they'll be kitted.
An average kitchen worth of RTA cabs can be put together in an afternoon, easily.

Thanks Gene,
I forgot all about them, I know they have a good reputation.
No cabinet makers in your area?
Just now took a quote for a large package, RTA versus local cabinet shop. Local was 20 percent more.
Have you been in a big cab plant that does custom work, and seen how the sheet usage optimization software links right into the big panel saws from folks like Stiles Machinery? How about how those CNC-driven multi-spindle drill rigs prep the carcase sides with dowel, drawerslide, hinge, and adjustable shelf holes, all with +/- .002 hole placement precision?
The first all-faceframed job we ever did with RTAs was full-inset throughout, shaker-style doors with pegged corners, and Conestoga nailed every single part dead on. Great accuracy and quality!
I am getting some quite special custom work done for a current project, but not in cabs.

I dont question the ability of the big shops, but you have to understand why I dont use them!
I'm just saying to check a local builder, there not always going to be higher.
Doug
The ones I've spoken to in the past didn't seem interesed in doing nice paint grade stuff, just high end hardwood, Doug. I'm sure they're out there but I haven't seen them in this part of CT anyway.
