Paint prep wash after scrape: sponge bath or flush?
Scraping frequently reveals many spots of bare wood, which makes me concerned about how much water to dump on the wood. Is it best to rinse with a flush of water from a hose, or use a sponge? A stream of water would be best for flushing away the detergent, but a sponge would probably have less water soak into the wood. In this particular case, these are window frames in a masonry structure.

paint prep
i always spray with a mixture of tsp, bleach and water, rinse and dry then scrape and sand, then dust off with brush then prime and paint
Depends on how much time you have to let the wood dry, and the drying conditions.
