Anybody rebuilt a grayco XR pump? My XR7 wasn’t building up pressure so I got pump repair kit, which is the “pistion”.
When I took the pump apart, and removed the old piston, (this things only a few months old), it looked fine. No notcicable difference from the new one.
I did notice that when I put the old, as well as the new piston back in the cylinder, it didn’t fit quite as tightly as I would have anticipated. I’m pretty sure it’s not a water tight fit.
If anybody has done this before, does this sound normal. Does it sound like the cylinder needs to be replaced?
BTW, it’s an almost new spayer, could be sent off and fixed under warranty, but trying to get it fixed this weekend.

I got the wagner which is about the same. It will act up every one in awhile. Which I have to take apart and clean, clean, clean in order for it to prime.
Got it working.
like you said, took it all apart, cleaned and put back together. not that there was any paint in it, but now it's working like new. same old piston as well.
Did me good anyway to see how things guts are all put together. It's actually a realitivly simple machine.
I've got an airlesss sprayer and I try to clean it thoroughly every time I use it. I run a lot of water through and then finish by pouring the special lubricating solution (blue liquid) into a quart or so of water and pump it into the equipment. It's supposed to prevent rusting. I've had the paint gun for 10 years now and this has worked pretty well for me!.++++++++++++++++
