A local manufacturer claims vinyl windows painted on the exterior to your colour choice is the industry standard.
So you get a window made of white vinyl with the exterior painted, with a lifetime warranty.
Fact or fiction re: it being an industry standard?
I would think the industry standard is to use colour infused vinyl for the exterior portion of the window, which is then bonded to rest of the window frame that is extruded/molded in white vinyl.

local manufacturer claims is about all it is.
Painting can be done however, and somewhat successfully, but as an industry standard it sounds more like a sales pitch.
Razz.
Agreed. I just cannot fathom how painting the vinyl would be an industry standard.
If you do paint them stick to a light color. The dark colors get to hot in the sun and cause the vinyl to break down. That's why it's hard to find vinyl in dark colors. In one job I did that I needed a dark brown I used aluminum clad wood windows.
I'd be going with a gray, so I'm in the middle of dark vs light colours and will want zero maintenance coloured vinyl, not painted.
I won't be using this manufacturer, but I am still curious re: others experiences with window manufacturers painting windows and the suggestion that it is an industry standard.
Maybe someone in the forum will have dealt with a wide range of manufacturers and can give some insight. Maybe even have worked in the industry.
