Hi guys
On our upper deck (8′ X 11′) , we are installing a vinyl floor so the deck below doesn’t get rained on. The plan is to pre-paint some 1/4 inch plywood and install it under the joists for a clean ceiling.
Color of choice is white.
1) Do you recommend flat, semi-gloss or a gloss exterior??
2) We also will build a 4 foor long privacy screen on each end of the lower deck and paint it white. Again…flat or glossy.
3) Can I paint pressure treated wood or do I need to make the screen of the more expensive cedar??
Thanls

The vinyl flooring will create puddles and be slippery. The deck boards won't be able to breathe. Closing in the joists with 1/4" ply will also trap moisture and degrade in a short time. How about running some fiberglass or plastic roof panels under the deck, pitched to drain? Pressure treated wood won't hold paint or solid stain for long. What about using synthetic materials that are white?

Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Thanks for the tip. If we use white vinyl or aluminum eaves material , does it breathe ? Perhaps we just put a couple of soffit vents in ? Thanks Stewie
