Does anyone have suggestions as to what type of businesses would paint a rusty oven door? I’ve heard that auto painters might. Any others? Thanks.

Just about the only place that can paint, and have the paint stand up to the heat, are the powder coating places.
Before powder coating, the old paint must be removed. Anything not magnetic will not hold the powder, either.
Thanks for the info!
Is powder coating magnetic or electrostatic? How do they powder coat aluminum?-Not nit-picking, just curious.Jerry
The powder coating is usually electrostatic. And cast aluminum is very hard to do, because it tends to off gas at the curing temperature and leave pits that look like orange peel in the finish.
I thought about that after I posted it ... and I'm pretty sure that you're right. Powdercoating requires an electrostatic charge ...not magnetism. Thanks for keeping me honest!
You can buy (at an appliance parts place) spray paint to match most common appliance colors and paint it yourself, but generally you won't get good gloss. An auto body place can do better.
However -- the oven door gets hot, and may get too hot for regular paint, be it appliance paint or auto paint. In the best case this will cause the hottest areas to yellow and darken, in the worst case the paint will peel off and/or smell up the place every time you use the oven. Powder coating supposedly produces a more heat-tolerant finish.

"Powder coating supposedly produces a more heat-tolerant finish."Not really. Powder coating is a process, not a finish. There are many powder coating materials. The DIY powder coating kits use materials that are fired in ordinary ovens.OTOH you can get spray cans of high temp paints (1500 F) as most home horor and hardware stores..

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
You can replace the outer skin on most oven doors cheaper than you can have a car body shop paint it. Sears (all brands) has a very good appliance parts supply on line.
