Painting Reverse Side of 4’X8′ Siding??
I’m about to start framing a 16’X32′, two story gambrel roof cabin/shed. I’ve aquired Hardiboard 4’X8′ siding. Several weeks ago, I “thought” I saw on the DIY Channel, that it was recommended to seal/paint the back side of siding sheets used on outside walls….
I using plywood sheathing around the framework, with the Hardiboard siding over that. Quality exterior paint costs aren’t the problem, but should I seal the backside of the siding before installing them?
Thanks,
Bill

I don't see any indication that they require that. Near as I can see, they have already pre-primed it one coat.
I'm sure they have a tech help line via e-mail or an 800 number

It makes sense to seal the back of wood siding, to prevent cupping due to moisture differences. But FC siding doesn't cup (much) due to moisture.
