Painting Sheet metal roof, need paint recommendations
We have a cabin in the woods that has a “Terracotta” colored roof. Which is a bright enough red you can spot it from the ridge line two miles away.
I have been told to paint it “green”.
Any recommendations for a paint that might stick, and cover the red in one or two coats?

It cannot be stressed enough that, in painting, preparation is everything. here can be no short cuts, or you will pay. And pay. And pay.
Assuming that the roof has weathered for at least a year, it ought to be ready to prime after just a quick rinse. You might have to do a bit of hunting around; even some 'pro' paint shops don't carry a decent primer, or paint, for metal. Despite the various promises, I'd stick with something besides any form of latex.
The easiest suitable paint to find is Rust-Oleum. I suggest you have your color based upon their "Spruce Green" color. One advantage to doing so is that you can make touch-ups with a simple spray can. Ordinary Rust-Oleum is sprayable with minor thinning with acetone; make sure your sprayer can handle that.
If you really want 'the best,' you might check out a paint shop that caters to the auto-body shop trade. They have a urethane paint that is simply awesome; you can even get 'bed liner' paint, tinted as you wish, that will foam up and give the roof a texture. Expect to pay- and press them about lead content. I believe some of their colorants are still allowed to be lead based.
