I have a 30 year old house in Albuquerque that is stuccoed in a terrible color. Has anyone had experience with elastomeric stucco paint? Does it last? Does it cause problems with moisture? How do I know which brands are better?

In Vegas, they shoot gray gunnite, and knock it down as "stucco", and then shoot latex house paint on it for color.
The folk's house was last repainted in the early eighties, and is still holding up well. There is a bit of chalking, but the paint is still holding up. Not sure what brand of paint Dad used. It was a higher end line though.
An alternative to painting is "fog coating":

It's basically a colored cement that you spray onto the walls. The big advantage is that you avoid the potential problems in applying a sealing finish over a material designed to be moisture permeable.
I'm not sure how much of a color adjustment you can make, however.
