I am trying to decide whether to spot paint or completely repaint the outside of a stucco house. There are some minor cosmetic cracks and a little peeling paint. Never having dealt with stucco, I have two general questions:
1. Is pressure washing a reasonable way to clean the surface and remove loose paint?
2. Any suggestions with regard to painting stucco? Type of primer? Surface prep?
All hints would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
RK

Spot painting will probably show as trying to match the color (as per DW white is a color) will be all but impossible.
Before pressure washing I would check the integrity of the stucco. You could very easily damage the surface. If the dirty and stained areas are not too large try washing with a good detergent and a brush with elbow grease.
As far as paint goes. Has the wall been painted before? If so then make sure the paint is intact, ie; no flaking. then any good quality exterior primer and paint will do.
If the wall has never been painted before. Make sure it is clean and you might need two coats of primer as the first coat will get sucked into the stucco.
