Did a quick search and did not find anyhing on whether there was any significant difference in the black vs orange airless framers. Anyone have any experience to share? I am considering getting one for occasional use, normally use a Bostich coil but for a few shots or working in occupied spaces think it would be worth it. Have found what appears to be good prices on some of the 325 models.
Gut feeling tells me this was the early version and may not be as desireable. The guys that helped me with the roof from h*ll used two of the latest ones and I was very impressed.
Your learned thoughts please.

Are you looking to buy a used one? Thats the only way your going to get a black one.
I have the orange, newer model, like it a lot. I've used the old style black ones and they seemed to work good.
I use mine so infrequently anymore, but damn glad to have it when I do need it.

Guess I would consider one if I could test shoot it. Kind of hard on e-bay. Thanks, Bob
You could test shoot mine - and it would still be back in for rebuild in another month or day, or six weeks....

I seem to remeber reading an artical in Fine Homebuilding a few years back where they were reviewing the orange ones and if I recall correctly they mentioned that the black ones had some problems and indeed the orange ones are the "new and improved" version. That is just what my foggy memory recalls. That and something about them calling the gun a lobster. Strange what sticks.
I have had an orange one for about 4 years now and am happy with it for the small remodeling projects I do. Also, have all their finish nailers and the stapler - like the whole lot.
Just how good a deal are the black ones you are looking at? The prices on all the new impulse guns has come down quite a bit in the last year, and I occasionally see reconditioned framers at Home Depot go for about $175 - $200

Curently $39 + $15 shipping. Others seem to be laying low on price. Thanks for input, Piffin has usual wizened ( not to be confused with wise azz) input.

I have one of each. blackie is lonely, gathering dust on some shelf in the shop. Biggest waste of timne and money I ever made. Think of it as Beta version
Love the new orange one though

Thanks, kind of what I was expecting. Something back in the mind remembered some lackluster performance. Probably should stick with the other cordless/airless nailers I have, (Estwing, Stanley, etc). Will keep eyes open for orange, ( I used to be in the Army Signal Corps anyway).
Bob
I owned the black one and now have the orange one.
The only reason I have the orange one is you can't
get parts for the black one, not unless you can
cannibalize and old one
I do not need that much hassle, thanks.

Like evreyone else said, The black version is old. Think of it as the Jaguar of airless nailers. Nice to look at but you'll need your very own mechanic on staff to keep it running.
Not what I need! Thanks. I have owned two Austin Healeys. Working on them was mostly fun then now it would be different.
