Patio Door Replacement with sloped sill
Hi everyone. I am replacing my wood patio door with a vinyl one. I found some of the rim joist and 3/4″ subfloor was rotted . I decided to patch the subfloor piece with some PT lumber and sloped it rather than placing it horizontal. I then will flash with some blueskin tape and place the door ( 6.5″ thick jambs) on some sill sealer and some shims. How does one normally deal with the space between the sill and bottom of the door when it is sloped? Just caulk it? Any suggestions if the space is over 3/8 “? Thank you.

John, I'm curious why you installed the patch at an angle. I don't have any experience installing vinyl doors, but on every door I have installed it's been very important to have uniform support under the sill. If you are concerned about the door leaking, install a sill pan. I blogged about some of the basics here: http://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/blogs/dept/design-matters/dont-let-happen-you .
Hi Mike. I quess I did it that way ,because most entry door details(for remodelling at least) I have seen, had a sloped sill and the threshold contacting the door. I did wrap the opening with Blueskin tape to use as a pan.
