Do they wear out? like in 20 years or is it usually the rollers, mine has 2 tandem roller assemblies.
Do people replace the metal tracks or do those kits that lay over the track edge work?
Dont read much here about patio doors.

You can get galling in an aluminum track if a wheel stalls and you keep using it. Eventually they all might show some wear. The stainless shoe will make it a whole lot better.
The wheels usually go long before the track. I've replaced wheels that had been messed up for years and had really bunged up the track, and the door worked like new (after filing down the worst track dings.)
LIke gfret says- you can get galling on the track if you use it with a seized up roller. Depending on the manufacturer, all the parts are replaceable. I have an andersen slider, vintage 1987 and was able to get all the parts I need to rebuild the track (I screwed up the track by never having the time to rebuild the carriage and continuing to use the door) and put new carriages underneath the door. I also rebuilt the weatherstripping and sealing for right around $100. Operates better than new now.
