This is more a curiosity question right now but may take on more significance next summer.
There are a number of companes advertising house paints that have 25 year or even lifetime warranties. They go on 10X thicker than paint and are breathable. Right now I’m going with “if it sounds too good to be true…” but, who knows what advances they’ve come up with. Does anyone have any experience with these coatings? Will they do what they say? Any idea what the cost mulitplier is to a regular, well done paint job?

Regular modern latex will last longer than 10 years. Why experiment with an unknown that doesn't promise that much more?
Just remember the lifetime or 25 yr warrentees are all pretty much a scame as of now.
With proper prep and quality primer and paint, I expect a paint job to last about 25 years.
I think it's called vinyl siding. :)
Just kididng, but related to that, I have cementitious board for siding on my house. I am impressed with how well it takes paint and how well it is holding up so far (admittedly it's only about 4 years old right now).
I guess what I'm getting at is that your choice of materials for siding affect the lifespan of the paint as well.

Yeah, and I suspect that anything that would prevent regular good quality acrylic latex housepaint from lasting 12-15 years would somehow void the warranty of the 25-year stuff.
