Is it me or are the crazy people coming out of the woodwork!!! Just recieved a call from a client who I did work for over 6 yrs ago. It seems that the white trim behind her gutter [installed by someone else] is turning green and I should come over to remove the gutter repaint the trim and reinstall the gutter for free.
I think the economy might be tightening up and she may be trying to sell but I don’t warranty work that somone else did and she has never cleaned her gutters since the installation.
I politely explained things to her and reminded her that “perpetual care only comes in the cemetary.”

Yup- they're out there. We once received a call from a client 5 years after we put a huge addition on their house. Seems the roof suddenly developed a leak, and they expected us to repair the damage free of charge. We asked if anyone had been on the roof lately to do anything, and the answer was "no- absolutely not".
Being the nice guys that we were, we stopped by the house when we were in the area later that week. The first obvious culprit was the newly installed DirectTV dish. A quick trip up the ladder revealed that not only did the installation genius nail the dish to the roof thru the shingles, but also fastened the cable down the valley by running sheetmetal screws thru the valley flashing.
When this was pointed out to the homeowner, they suddenly "remembered" that the dish had been installed a few weeks prior. "So I guess someone WAS on the roof- huh, Mrs Homeowner????"

The Dish guys came to my job last month. They wanted it on the shingles, and I absolutely refused, pointed to a spot on gable end fascia or on the chimney. They argued, I didn't, the dish is on the gable end fascia.

Thank you Lord for the dish guys so the roofers have perpetual business. Amen.

what happens when you don't pay, do they evict :)

Actually, the rate is on the older lots, some of which have no more family members to pay it, so the new lots are now sold at higher price with thew perpetual care built into the price.

I had a summer job in an old historic cemetery (Clark of Lewis and Clark is among the guest). All graves got basic care which included mowing. But those with perpetual care got weekly cutting and trimming around the headstone and shrubs and permanate urns.
Well most people like me are of the belief..It never hurts to ask. All they can do is say yes or no.
BTW the guy who built my house 50 years ago didnt tape up the dry wall...its starting to split at the joint.....Maybe you could.....:>)
