I want to use PEX to run some lines thru a cramped crawlspace for hotwater baseboard heat (in the rooms above the crawlspace). So I’ll need to have a connection/adapter from the PEX to 3/4″ copper pipe.
Questions:
1)Is there a brand of PEX that doesn’t require the expensive installation tools? I’ll only be doing this once.
2)In this situation is it best to have the PEX-to-Copper connection above the floor or below?
3)Is PEX only sold in rolls of 300 feet? I doubt I need half that much.
4)Is there a difference in type of PEX for radiant-heat applications versus PEX for transport-only of hot water? (ie I don’t want to heat the surounding area of the PEX, just to transport 180 degree hotwater. So maybe I should put pipe insulation around the PEX?)
Any other thoughts or suggestions about this would be greatly appreciated.
Phil
