I am building a freestanding unheated workshop. Can I use pex plumbing to supply water from the house to this building.? A distance of about 20′. How deep does it need to be buried? Does it matter if it freezes? Location: southern Indiana
Thanks

indoor plumbing in an unheated building. Hmm, how's that supposed to work?

I just ran 3/4" PEX out to my shop and it's buried 24" deep, the usual depth around here. Find out from a plumber or building inspector what is typical in your area.
If I was running plumbing to a shop that was unheated, I'd make sure to completely empty the lines every winter.
The Pex itself can stand freezing fine, but the fittings cannot.
